Inspiration
We saw how post-surgery patients struggle with mobility and heavy dependence on caregivers, inspiring us to design a system that restores autonomy and comfort.
What it does
MobilEase transforms the center panel of a hospital bed into a powered wheelchair, enabling effortless transfers and integrated rehabilitation support.
How we built it
We used CAD modeling in Onshape to design a modular bed system with mechanical joints, rail guides, motorized movement, and limb-support attachments.
Challenges we ran into
Aligning bed-to-chair motion smoothly, integrating support rails without adding bulk, and ensuring ergonomic comfort were key design hurdles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a functional, scalable concept that combines mobility, therapy, and autonomy in a single system.
What we learned
How to merge mechanical design, patient needs, and assistive technology into a user-friendly, realistic product concept.
What's next for MobilEase
Prototype development, mechanical testing, and integration of smart sensors for automated adjustment and safety monitoring.
