Inspiration

In the wake of the Stoneman Douglas shooting as well as many others such as the Sandy Hook shooting, my team and I were in shock about the lack of security for students in school. Everyone carries their phone in their hand nowadays, so why not use it to increase our safety?

What it does

Mobile App Security (M.A.S) allows you to view what you can see out of someone else's camera. You just need their IP camera address and be on the same wireless network connection.

How we built it

We used MIT App Inventor to develop the code for the app and executed it using Lenovo Yoga tablets. The MAS viewer can see any IP camera address including those on Android and iphones.

Challenges we ran into

We found it hard to find IP camera apps that would work for both Android and IOS.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developing an app that we believe would greatly improve school safety. The coding was a bit of a struggle so just putting it together and having it work out is an accomplishment for us.

What we learned

We learned how to mix and match features on MIT App Inventor in order to create our app. We also learned how to create a video that explains our app.

What's next for Mobile App Security

Improving the app is our main goal so that if this idea were to become known to schools, we would be able to have them use it with no problems. We hope to have the app available for free on the Google Play Store.
