Inspiration

Elderly population is slowly increasing, and one problem they have is their mobility. We set out to empower the elderly by increasing their mobility in a way that gives them their independence as well as look out for their well being.

What it does

Mobigo is a rollator and a cane in one product. The cane is the handle for the rollator and is detachable. The rollator is fully adjustable for height to make sure every user is comfortable with it. On top of this, Mobigo is smart. It is able to detect when a fall occurs and send a message to loved ones and caretakers in case of emergencies. It is also able to send location information to ensure help is on the way if required. With its speaker, it is able to read out loud incoming messages from loved ones and caretakers. Having only big buttons, it is easy to use and understand which is critical for our target audience.

How we built it

We are still in the process of building Mobigo, but our approach is tackling the mechanical and electrical sides on their own first and then incorporating them later. For electrical, we are building a basic prototype on a breadboard and then we will move onto our custom PCB. For mechanical, we made low fidelity prototypes and clay handles to see how it would be in real life, and we will move onto a more solid/strong version with PVC pipes before the final version.
