We should maintain “social distancing” in the supply chain. Digital documents reduce the risk of transmitting germs through shared paperwork and face-to-face exchanges. Digital payments is essential in ensuring that no cash changes hands. We can contract creation, payment and billing without an in-person interaction.

What it does

The Mobdel initiative is a fintech initiative that caters to the logistics industry. According to its report titled ” Logistics Market: Global Industry, Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2020-2025, " the global logistics market size is$4,963 billion in 2019. McKinsey also estimates that IoT, cloud and blockchain technologies will have a$ 2.2 trillion global economic impact by 2025. Mobdel performs contract creation, payment and billing through the blockchain network using e-signatures to ensure that no money or documents change hands in the global supply chain, records them in digital notebooks and stores them in high security on the network. It uses the digital wallet feature to allow its users access to the services without the need for a credit card or bank account. After invoicing, the bank makes payments to the bank accounts of the requesting users. How does mobdel work? Carriers and shippers connect trucks to a permissioned blockchain network. Carriers solicit freight from 3PL (third-party logistics) providers and shippers connected to the blockchain network. Once the carrier has a truck available, the network matches up the shipper’s load based on the electronic logging device that provides the driver’s available hours of service. A reference price is used to determine how much the shipper will pay for the shipment. A smart contract listing the price, fuel, and incidental costs is generated and sent to the carrier. The carrier accepts the contract terms. The truck takes the road. Thanks to the blockchain and transactions, the shipper can track every event related to the shipment. Once the load is delivered, proof of delivery is provided. The invoice is sent and the bank pays the carrier immediately.

How I built it

As digital advisors, our technical expertise in blockchain technology means we can ensure a targeted and efficient development process. Blockchain is a way of storing information. Blockchain is often compared to a large, incorruptible ledger of economic transactions. It is a series of interconnected blocks of information, with each block holding a single transaction. What makes the blockchain so unique is its high level of security. The entire set of linked blocks forms a register, or blockchain. These registers are reliable, secure, transparent, and accessible. A blockchain is, in a manner of speaking, the DNA of data. Altering or editing information is very difficult. Once an operation is included in a block, it is permanently recorded. Every block is time-stamped, which makes it possible to prove the existence of records at any given point in time. Blockchain follows a chronological sequence. When there is new information, the link to preceding blocks is retained, and copies are kept in all participating systems. These multiple copies make the information failure-resistant. When a block is altered, it disconnects the chain, affecting every other block. How did we develop and design? We developed a back-end system to facilitate content management inside the fleet management companies. Following its success, we created the integrated payment platform mobdel. User Experience We optimized the UX flow of the existing app for easier onboarding and an intuitive user experience. Mobile App Architecture We developed the mobile app architecture in a way that new functions can be integrated easily as individual apps. For this purpose, we provided relevant functions for system integration via an internal SDK We developed the mobdel payment platform and integrated various system components: Integration of platform functions into the mobile iOS and Android apps via an internal SDK Installing/establishing/connecting/using the App Store and Google Play Store as payment channels for recurring payments Integration of external applications via OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect into mobdel’s central user and rights management Seamless integration of web apps into the native iOS and Android apps We developed and integrated various web apps providing services of the mobdel platform. (for example, API Banking Services)

Challenges I ran into

We must foresee the challenges that may hamper the progress of the overall project. The primary challenge we face is being able to compete with competing undertakings in the sector. What are the advantages and disadvantages of mobdel? Competitor Analysis Our 3 best known competitors are: driver-based fleet management companies FLEETSense, ISAAC and Samsara. Our biggest competitor is Samsara, a fleet management and IT services company serving in the food, pharmaceutical, construction, automotive and passenger transport sectors as well as the logistics sector. It has an estimated 1300 employees, an annual revenue of$ 150 million, a value of$ 6 billion, and market size of 0.62% in the logistics sector. It focuses on cloud and IoT technologies that will enable data monitoring to improve productivity in manufacturing plants and operations. Samsara, which is seeking funding for long-term investments, is unable to combat cloud and other initiatives trying to select smaller, private parts of blockchain technology. Our competitors mainly work on drive-centric digital workflow solutions, and workflow solutions are limited to road transport.Digital payment (using blockchain technologies) and digital wallet financial technologies are not used, although they offer 2-way Automatic Data Communication, automatic location tracking and freight location mapping services between the dispatcher and the driver. Of the 3 companies, only samsara uses cloud computing infrastructure (cloud based backup). Two other companies use IoT technologies. FLEETSense and ISAAC companies have investment costs such as purchasing hardware and software, setting up and running in-house data centers. Also speed, scale and efficiency of these two companies are limited. ISAAC and samsara supported their operations remotely with messaging system, sharing digital documents, and real-time routing/shipping capabilities during pandemic. But Samsara ve Isaac, have been inadequate in matching shippers, shippers and receivers with blockchain technology, and in performing payment/billing operations. Mobdel has the quality to stand out among its rivals. Other Challenges We ran into: Managing a team that is widely spread out. Defining goals and objectives. Ensuring that projects are progressing as planned and allow you to get visibility into all your projects is a big challenge. Mobdel is challenging or demand a certain level of knowledge and expertise,
