Hackathon Team Builder

Inspiration

Inspiration was from how hard it was to determine in the MLH discord, who was looking for a team, which teams were full, and who was already in a team. As a result, we tried to make an interactive visual tool to help in team building for a hackathon. Aimed to be a project about giving back to the hacker and entering the domain name challenges.

Learned

We learned about Node.js, specifically file reading/parsing(IO), dynamic HTML code generation, detailed CSS styling. We built it from Node.js template from MLH with custom python, CSS, and javascript.

Challenges

One of our teammates couldn't get the server to start, so all commits were done by two people. Domain.com never verified our domain name so we never got to finish our project design because some functional aspects relied on not localhost. None of us knew Node.js before we started this project so we had to look up different functions.

Overall

We had fun making this project and hope to apply the knowledge gained in future projects!
