Inspiration

Growing up as the child of two part-time farmers, I witnessed firsthand the challenges that many farming families face. Our education, food, and daily needs were all tied to the unpredictable nature of farming. Each season brought new hurdles—from securing quality inputs to meeting export regulations.

For us, dairy and avocado farmers, a poor harvest meant more than just financial strain; it meant missing school due to unpaid fees and daily struggles to make ends meet. We often felt excluded from crucial subsidies and market opportunities, while middlemen exploited our vulnerability.

Unlike other professionals, my parents lacked access to affordable credit or insurance, limiting their ability to invest in better practices or address pressing needs like our education and health issues.

This experience is not unique—it's a story shared by countless children of farmers across Eastern Africa that is mostly agricultural-based. It's what inspired us to create MkulimaSmart. We envisioned a system that fully integrates farmers into the agricultural sector, providing access to quality inputs, fair financial services, and global market opportunities.

MkulimaSmart isn't just about helping individual farmers—it's about ensuring that those who feed the world have the tools to succeed, creating a ripple effect that benefits entire communities and future generations
