Inspiration

Largely inspired by BAYC, Maskats aims to be more than just another NFT

What it does

Maskats are looking to house themselves everywhere, be it real life or in the metaverse. We are in the midst of collaborating with an upcoming game publisher, Astral Entities which has a huge vision on the blockchain game ecosystem, as well as looking to create a successful merch brand bringing pride to Solana. Ultimately, every Maskats holder will be rewarded with royalties and profit share from all collaborations, merch sales as well as secondary market, making every Maskats NFT count. Joining the Astral Entities game ecosystem is the first big step for Maskats before it's even launched. Community benefits are our top most priority. We call it Hold to Earn (H2E).

How we built it

Maskats is built using Rust & Metaplex Candy Machine.

Challenges we ran into

Maskats initial deployment was Ethereum. But due to the overwhelming gas fees incurred during minting of various popular NFT projects, we discovered that a large amount of the cost incurred during minting were gas instead of the price of the NFT art, hence rewarding the miners more than the artist. We feel that artists should be valued and appreciated as what Cole from Pudgy Penguins shared. Hence we looked into Solana and love at first sight. Our initial developer had contacted COVID-19 and hence we need to seek very last minute support for development work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Striking a collaboration with Astral Entities is a god send even before our project is launched. We are very hopeful for the future of Maskats, bringing massive value to every Maskats NFT holder.

What we learned

There are many NFT projects that seem to tarnish the reputation of NFT, by being a rug pull of no real usage. Being a victim of aurory(dot)app incident, we certainly feel it and definitely focus on community benefit first for Maskats

What's next for Maskats

The Astral Entities ecosystem with Maskats is on its way. We are also having 50% royalties shared with every Maskats NFT you hold, making every Maskats count. Royalties from future collaborations with games, brands, endorsement, merch will be shared with Maskats holders as well. We are already planning something after 100% mint. DAO will be something we are looking at in the near future for community take over as well as investing in crypto games such as Aurory, Astral Entities and many more to incentivize Maskat Holders. Maskats' tokenomics will be further enhanced with Astral Entities games too.
