Inspiration
More than 40 million people live in poverty in the United States. The federal government defines poverty as a family of four living on $25,100 or less a year. Many of these families are not able to make ends meet; they are often working at minimum wage jobs or struggling to get their small businesses off the ground, and they can’t afford health or child care. I take interest in community issues and protecting environment. I enjoy building software tools that empower communities and tools that provide solutions to the climate crisis, for clean air, safe water, land protection, and a vibrant natural world, and for environmental and social justice.
What it does
Mizuxe a non-profit dfinity based internet computer canister app for receiving donations and providing loans, jobs, and opportunities to entrepreneurial women and families who live in poverty thereby enabling financial mobility.
How we built it
React is used for the frontend while Motoko programming language is used for the canister backend.
Challenges we ran into
I was not able to use react-router easily with the dfinity framework and had to come up with a work around to have all the features on the home page rather than on several pages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building the funding and donation website and application
What we learned
Learning a new language in Motoko and user management of the internet computer. I learnt the Motoko programming language and how to access identities on different browsers.
What's next for Mizuxe
I want to expand the software for mobile users as well for different non-profit organizations helping with the blind, people with autism, senior citizens and those making positive environmental change a priority.
