Inspiration

The journey of creating Miya began with a simple question: “How can we make learning more engaging, personalized, and immersive?” As educators and tech enthusiasts, we were inspired by the potential of AI and mixed reality to revolutionize education. We envisioned an application that would empower learners, educators, and professionals alike.

What it does

Throughout the development process, we learned several key lessons:

User-Centric Design: We prioritized user needs and feedback. Miya’s interface evolved based on usability testing, ensuring a seamless experience for learners of all ages. AI Integration: Integrating AI was both exciting and challenging. We explored natural language processing (NLP) for personalized content recommendations and adaptive learning paths. We also experimented with computer vision for interactive AR experiences. Mixed Reality Challenges: Creating realistic mixed reality scenarios required overcoming technical hurdles. Calibration, tracking, and rendering demanded meticulous attention to detail.

How we built it

Here’s how we built Miya:

Architecture: Miya’s backend runs on Node.js with Express, while MongoDB stores user data. We chose Mongoose for data modeling and management. AI-Powered Content: Our AI engine analyzes user interactions, learning patterns, and preferences. It recommends relevant courses, quizzes, and resources. Mixed Reality Layer: Miya’s mobile app integrates ARKit (iOS) and ARCore (Android). Learners explore virtual labs, historical sites, or mathematical concepts in 3D with Flutter. Collaboration Tools: Miya supports real-time collaboration. Students can work together on projects, share notes, and discuss topics within the app.

Challenges we ran into

Building Miya wasn’t without obstacles:

Data Privacy: Balancing personalized recommendations with user privacy was crucial. We implemented robust encryption and anonymization techniques. Content Diversity: Curating diverse content across subjects and languages challenged our team. We collaborated with educators worldwide to expand our library. Hardware Compatibility: Ensuring Miya worked seamlessly across devices (phones, tablets, AR glasses) required extensive testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

User Adoption: Miya gained rapid adoption among students, educators, and professionals. The intuitive interface and personalized content recommendations resonated with users. Positive Feedback: User reviews praised Miya’s immersive mixed reality experiences. Learners appreciated the realistic simulations and interactive labs. Global Reach: Miya transcended borders. It’s now used in classrooms, corporate training, and even remote villages with limited resources. Partnerships: Collaborations with educational institutions and industry leaders boosted Miya’s credibility. We partnered with renowned universities for content creation.

What we learned

Privacy Matters: Balancing personalization with data privacy was crucial. We implemented robust encryption and transparent data handling practices. Content Diversity: Curating diverse content across subjects and languages required ongoing efforts. We learned to collaborate with experts worldwide. Hardware Challenges: Ensuring Miya worked seamlessly across devices (phones, tablets, AR glasses) was a continuous challenge. Regular updates were essential. Adaptive AI: Fine-tuning Miya’s AI engine was an ongoing process. We learned to adapt to user preferences and learning patterns.

What's next for Miya

Our journey continues. We’re exploring VR integration, expanding language support, and partnering with institutions to democratize education.
