Mistral Étoile: About the Project

Mistral Étoile is a project aimed at enhancing children's online safety in an increasingly digital world. Utilizing a browser extension that utilizes the capabilities of the Pixtral model, it captures and analyzes screen content in real-time against 20 safety criteria. If potentially harmful material is detected, the content is hidden, ensuring a safer browsing experience. The system not only identifies risks but also generates text annotations and creates a knowledge graph to visualize relationships between various data points. This information culminates in a report for parents, providing insights into their children's interests, psychological behavior, and potential career paths.

Inspiration

The inspiration for Mistral Étoile came from the capabilities of the Pixtral model and its potential to address numerous real-world problems. I recognized the pressing need for enhanced children's safety online, and the Pixtral model offered a promising solution.

What I Learned

Throughout this project, I discovered that we can uncover fascinating insights from data in innovative ways. The Mistral Pixtral and Mistral Large 2 models simplify this process, enabling deeper understanding and analysis of content.

How I Built My Project

I started by designing the architecture and concept, defining the core aspects of the project. I created an initial MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to determine feasibility. Once I validated the idea, I calculated my time and developed a project management plan, outlining the resources needed to tackle the challenges ahead. I also devised contingency plans for each step.

With a clear plan in place, I constructed the architecture and began programming and testing. Midway through the development, I conducted self-checks to ensure I remained on track. Additionally, I focused on creating a presentation to visualize the desired outcome. After several programming sessions, I finally completed the project.

Challenges Faced

One of the primary challenges I encountered was managing the time constraints of the hackathon. As I progressed, new ideas continuously emerged, making it difficult to balance the creation of a functional MVP with the influx of innovative concepts swirling in my mind. Maintaining focus on the core project while navigating these creative distractions was a significant hurdle.
