Mistik Tarot

Inspiration

The same principle guides all of my projects: technology should make a person’s day easier, and simplicity should be a real product feature. I developed Mistik Tarot while managing multiple chronic health conditions, which strengthened my preference for calm navigation and meaningful experiences without the clutter and friction common in many similar apps.

Inspiration

Mistik Tarot grew out of the idea that spiritual apps can feel personal, beautiful, and calm without requiring an account or sending intimate profile details to a server.

What it does

Mistik Tarot is a multilingual spiritual guidance app with Turkish and English support for tarot, horoscopes, love compatibility, and Yıldızname-style personal reflection. Users can complete onboarding, draw tarot cards, explore single-card and Celtic Cross spreads, read daily, weekly, and monthly horoscope sections, calculate love compatibility, and personalize the tone of readings with local profile details.

How we built it

The app is built with React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/Radix UI, Framer Motion, React Router, Vite PWA, and Capacitor for Android/iOS packaging. It includes local notifications, AdMob hooks, RevenueCat premium wiring, and Vitest coverage for key reading logic.

During Build Week, Codex with GPT-5.6 acted as a pair programmer and submission copilot: it inspected the existing architecture, clarified the product narrative, verified tests and production builds, prepared README setup instructions, and helped produce the demo and submission materials.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was turning a visually rich, mobile-first app into a clearly runnable project for judges while preserving the local-first privacy model and native mobile packaging path.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a working PWA and native-ready consumer app with tarot spreads, horoscope pages, love compatibility, Yıldızname readings, Turkish and English support, themes, tests, and a judge-ready README.

What we learned

Codex is useful not only for writing code, but for inspecting a whole app, identifying what judges need, and turning a long product history into a coherent technical story.

What's next for Mistik Tarot

Next steps are polishing the Android and iOS release pipeline, expanding beta testing, improving performance for lower-end devices, and adding richer personalized reading flows.
