Inspiration
I was inspired by super hero movies and series where, from a control point, heros are monitored and the missions they go on are viewed by those at the "home base".
What it does
This simple Mission Queue project is a broad concept for a Desktop GUI application that allows a team or corporation to input Persons into a local database, that then allows them to be assigned to missions and those missions can then be displayed through a GUI console in sequential order.
How we built it
I used intelliJ, Maven and JSwing with their graphical imports.
Challenges we ran into
Time became a huge problem due to the scale that I originally wanted the project to be at. This lead to expirementation that went nowhere and ended up with me needing to cut back on certain aspects of the project Inexperience with JSwing, as this was my first time using this GUI language, and therefore, I had to spend quite a lot of time learning how to set up the graphical elements. This overall lead to a simplier and unfinished project. Originally I was going to use APIs and better graphical implementations, but due to time, and my little knowledge of JSwing, the project now stands as a proof of concept, with some portions working.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of my ability to work with JSwing for the first time, and create something on my own and have it be mostly working and be formatted as a GUI.
What we learned
In the future, I may consider working with others to make great accomplishments as the time constraint was more critical than I realized before hand. Also, I will limit and understand what can reasonably be done by one person.
What's next for MissionQueue
Fix removing Preson from Mission logic Fix adding Mission to MissionList logic Replace tempConsole with Graphical drop-downs Improve visual quality Add better QoL
