Inspiration
Nowadays, many kids spend hours on their phones, tablets, or computers. This is probably inevitable. However, with our app, we wanted to help parents create fun tasks and daily chores for their kids.
What it does
A mobile app where parents assign tasks to kids, and kids earn points (“stars”) by completing them. Stars can be redeemed for custom rewards (set by parents).
How we built it
We used Figma to design the UI, and both Xcode and Swift were used for the code.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was working with Swift, as we had never worked with it before. We felt Mission Up was best suited as an iOS app, so we built it natively to see our vision come to life fully. This gave us more control over design, performance, and user experience, especially since we were aiming for a smooth and kid-friendly experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The biggest accomplishment we are proud of is making something that works using language and an application we have never used before.
What we learned
Not only did we learn a whole new language, but we also learned how to collaborate and work as a team on a project with a very limited amount of time.
What's next for Mission Up
What is next for Misson Up is that we want to elevate the user experience by adding things like animations and sound effects, developing mini-games, competition against siblings, and even adding missions that siblings can complete together and earn points.
