Inspiration

More than half of the US population has experienced the disastrous effects of climate change. This includes unseasonal tornadoes, severe hurricanes and millions of dollars in damage. This example is only what has happened in the US, what about the rest of the world? People all over the world are getting affected by this everyday. From simple things like polluting to major things like fracking, everything affects the climate and the environment in which we live in. This will only increase in the future, thereby affecting next generations. This inspired me to create an app that teaches everyone to reduce the effects of climate change, by using a fun bite sized activity game called Mission Earth.

What it does

This game teaches about the environment and reducing global warming in a fun way. Players can do activities that help the environment and then they can take a video/picture then upload it to win treecoins, currency in the app to buy prizes. They can use these coins to buy trees, which will be planted at their desired location and they can enjoy the product from the tree such as apples from an apple tree, etc.

How we built it

Figma: Design Google Drive: To input code for this project Javascript: To program the application HTML/CSS: To program the design of the app

Challenges we ran into

This was my first hackathon so it was initially difficult to figure out a few things. Another challenege was completing the submission within the given time frame. This was also my first time using Figma as well as coding.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating an app that teaches people about the environment and finishing the submission in the given time is what I'm proud of accomplishing.

What we learned

I learned how to create an application using Figma. I learned how to create an appealing app that is easy to use

What's next for Mission Earth

We are going to build a website, MissionEarth.tech. We will add more features such as competing with friends. Also, more prizes and gifts will be available soon
