Inspiration

We were inspired to create this project because of the potential for utility of the twitter hashtag to help find missing persons. Many people go missing all over the world at all times and we wanted to create a project to help. Using this app, it is possible to track the most recent disappearances as they are posted on twitter with the #missingperson.

What it does

This program pulls the most recent tweets with #missingperson and plots them on google maps and each marker links to the original tweet.

How we built it

Through teamwork, blood, sweat, and javascript, we built this program.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble connecting to a server and querying tweets.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the functionality of this project and potential to help find missing people.

What we learned

We learned how to work with APIs to create a new project.

What's next for #MissingPerson

We hope that this could develop into a mobile app and increase information given from the location markers, such as contact information. We also hope to filter out irrelevent tweets as well as expand the search query.
