MissDirection is a mapping engine that navigates you to a random location within a few blocks of your destination.

What it does

It's a Chrome extension that redirects attempts to get to Google Maps to a spoof that operates similarly to Google Maps, but instead of taking you to where you want to go, it takes you CLOSE by. It's misdirection by redirection. Get there and really be "only a few blocks away".

As lead, I worked on all the elements. Primarily, the Chrome Extension redirect part, the CSS and the Google Directions/Details API parts.

It was my first real attempt at making an browser extension and digging that deep into the Maps API. I learnt a lot about background pages, and content scripts.

I worked on setting up the Google Maps UI for geolocation and string searches, and I worked on miss-directing Google Maps searches to a random location within .005 degrees lat/lng of the real search result.

Dani YoungSmith
I focused on manipulating the Google maps API to deviate from its default functionality. My major contributions were overwriting the functions to place markers on the map and direct the user to that place.
