MisMatch

Inspiration

The Misfit challenge inspired us to find new ways to use the Flash to engage with your surroundings

What it does

We've created an app for Android which intigrates with the Misfit Flash for a user friendly controlling enviroment, it allowes the user to create a different profiles for the Flash button functionality in specific situations of his daily routine.

How we built it

Using our knowledge of Android and Java we've planned seperate modules and roles in the making of the project, during the Hackathon we've changed our roles accordingly to the needs of the current situation, while keeping in touch with other members following through a shared Google Docs, and documenting our progress.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating with CoffeeTap's protocol in order to make coffee from our app Working with Git on different platforms and IDE's We needed to find a smart way of organizing our data, making it generic in order to integrate with new interfaces, api's and devices in the future

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Using the Flash to make different types of coffee with different number of taps Organizing our data in a convenient generic way to add more functionalties more easily

What I learned

Distributed tasks, teamwork and passion can defeat lack of sleep

What's next for MisMatch

We definitely want to countinue and expand MisMatch's functionalties including:

  • Triggers: sensors and events. Example: Google Calender events and connection of external devices
  • Actions: device functionalties, external API's and apps. Example: Integrating with pc and volume control
  • Devices: we would like to expand our use of wearables to other technologies out in the market
  • Prediction: we would like to develop prediction abilities to the app, in a way that could predict a user's profiles automatically based on his daily routine and prefrences.
