Inspiration
I experience headaches. They seem to be weather related, although this is hard to pinpoint. I'd love to collaborate with other headache sufferers and find if there are common causes like barometric pressure, temperature, pollen counts, precipitation. Are there other people that experience headaches when I do? What techniques to people employ that help?
What it does
The application actively asks users about headache occurrences, duration, intensity, location, description, and any steps take to relieve the pain.
User headache data is coordinated with weather, pollen, season and other users headache reports to cluster users by common factors.
Users will be provided with common relief strategies from their cluster.
Ideally, headaches may be predicted so that remedies can be engaged earlier in an episode to improve relief
How I built it
- Search for weather data sources: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cdo-web/datasets
- Generate mock user data
- Create android app to poll for user data and notify of cluster activity (probably incoming headache, change in cluster makeup, updates to a cluster's remediation strategies)
Challenges I ran into
What are the privacy implications? Where is the user's data stored, and how can privacy be maintained while also permitting the application to actively contact the users?
How can anecdotal relief strategies be provided with the proper caveats such that people do not use this as a substitute for medical advice?
