Inspiration
The nostalgia of Tic-Tac-Toe and the addictive nature of simplicity.
What it does
It is supposed to be a more complex version of Tic-Tac-Toe. The players are tasked with avoiding the traditional sense of winning by 3's and forcing the other player to do so. If the player is backed into a corner and there are no viable moves left, then the board expands (preventing any draws) and the other player gets a point. There should also be a timer to give tension to the moves players make and force them to make strategic plays under a countdown.
How we built it
We first built the skeleton in a spreadsheet. Then we worked on improving the visuals and actual mechanics in Java.
Challenges we ran into
We found it difficult to implement the board and transitions mechanics for it. We also found it hard to address the timer swings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It was a fun time working together and talking about the games we play. The code may not be fully done, but it was nice getting to hang our work together.
What we learned
We needed to not overthink our goals and to start small. We constantly worked backward instead of forwards. Thus we learned to increment our codes along with a linear progress.
What's next for Misére
Implementing a lot of the features and fixing the bugs. If we fix the timer, board, and transition methods, then we would love to play it with our friends and others.
