This started at 1 am with one complaint: why do freshmen have to move in before finding out their stuff doesn’t fit? You get a room assignment, maybe a floor plan, and then spend move-in day dragging a dresser around a cinderblock box.
Mise lets you try your room first. Scan it with an iPhone and you get a photoreal 3D copy at real size. Writing our own LiDAR scanning with SLAM in 24 hours wasn’t realistic, so we capture with Polycam and KIRI Engine and built everything after that ourselves. Haven’t moved in yet? Upload your housing floor plan and Mise reads the walls, doors and dimensions into an empty room.
Then just ask. Type something like “cozy study corner, warm colors,” and Mise generates three Designs at once, streaming every move live. Drag, resize, recolor or swap anything yourself, and every change is checked so nothing overlaps and doors still open.
We built it with React Three Fiber and Gaussian splats on the frontend, a TypeScript backend, and Claude Opus 5.5 running three agent loops in parallel. The catalog has 689 real-size furniture pieces, and anything missing gets generated with FLUX.1 and TRELLIS.2. The hardest part was making scans look real from every angle, since LiDAR never sees behind furniture.
Dorms are just the start. Anyone moving could use this. Try it at misedesign.us
