Inspiration

I’ve always wanted a beauty experience that felt emotionally intelligent — not just about how I look, but how I feel. Mirror My Mood was born out of that desire: to help users find the perfect glam based on mood, vibe, face shape, and where they’re headed. I wanted the experience to feel like a best friend giving you advice before a big night out- warm, fun, and helpful.

What it does

Mirror My Mood is a personalized AI glam experience that delivers:

• Custom makeup look suggestions based on user input
• A floating AI glam assistant that chats like your beauty bestie
• A podcast-style voiceover that explains your glam look in detail
• Tags to match your vibe (#soft, #glowing, etc.)
• Curated product recommendations with shoppable links
• A beautiful, animated carousel interface without relying on images

How we built it

We used the no-code platform Bolt.new as the foundation, combining:

• OpenAI to interpret responses and generate rich voice scripts
• ElevenLabs for smooth, podcast-like text-to-speech narration
• Dappier to build the floating “Glam Concierge” assistant widget

Each screen passes data forward or resets when a user goes back, creating a fluid and personalized user journey.

Challenges we ran into

• ElevenLabs voice playback lag and API limits
• Audio failing to load due to empty or invalid src errors
• Creating a voice experience that didn’t just repeat screen text
• Managing conditional logic so “Back” resets the screen logic
• Designing a fully image-free carousel that still felt inspiring

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Got ElevenLabs voiceover to feel like a podcast, not a robotic read-out
• Built a full no-code experience with zero traditional dev tools
• Created a seamless, emotionally intelligent UI using only text, color, and movement
• Designed a concept that could actually serve real beauty users today

What we learned

• Prompt engineering makes or breaks voice quality and tone
• State management in no-code tools requires extra creativity
• User journey planning matters as much as visuals or tech
• You don’t need images to inspire — voice and copy can carry the experience

What's next for Mirror My Mood

• Save/share your glam results for social
• Add a “Makeup Moodboard” generator using AI and Pinterest-style logic
• Let users tag and log their favorite looks
• Expand product recommendations with affiliate integration
