Inspiration

Mira is a character I created for a zany RPG with the working title "Juicebox RPG". Mira is based off of my friend Mira, who likes pink and slays. Thus, her character likes pink and slays. Of course there's way more to Mira than that (both the character and the person), but those were the requests I was given for the character design.

The Lore...

Mira, lorewise, is SECRETLY A PRINCESS :0 However, this remained unbeknownst to her for most of her life. When she was just a baby, the royal family was ousted from power during a brutal pirate siege on the Islands of Braar Nameri. In her father's flight, she was placed on the doorstep of the Cathedral's orphanage, where she was raised lovingly by the religious order until she decided to live a priestess. No matter what her title is, she has dedicated her life to helping others and giving hope to those in their darkest hours.

How I built it

I created this model in ZBrush, using a blockout method workflow with a LOT of subtools to keep editing the body and forms easy and controlled, as well as minimize the distortion from other body parts. After I finished the model, I brought it into Adobe Substance Painter for texturing.

Trials and Tribulations

This model was a high poly nightmare. I had to thwack it SO many times with decimation master to get the poly count down to a level that was NOT egregiously eyebrow raising.

Gold Stars

I think she looks cool! I feel like the armor sculpts really showcase my ability to create intricately detailed hard surface models. I also think the usage of height maps on the tunic punches up the design.

What I learned

This model was the first time I tried modeling in semi-realism. I found myself making conscious design decisions on where to lean more into the stylization, and how/where to push/pull back on the forms.

What's next for Mira - The Priestess

I'm itching to model her staff! I plan on using some of the same motifs in Mira's armor, like the flowing bows and circular thingies(??), to build a sense of cohesiveness.
