Inspiration
We noticed that the University advisors were unable to answer a simple question: What minor am I close to attaining? Not because they did not want to, but becuause that is a very diffucult question to answer without proper technology.
What it does
This website will output the minor degree which a student can attain with the fewest additional classes.
How we built it
We built this app on one of our team member's server by implementing full-stack development.
Challenges we ran into
None of us had ever programmed a website before and all but one of us had never used SQL.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We laid groundwork on a tool which will benefit the lives of every student at this university, and learned a lot in the process.
What we learned
We all learned a great deal about fuill stack development, how to communicate bettween websites and servers, and we all now possess introductory knowledge of HTML, CSS, js, jquery, SQL, and servermanagement: programming concepts that we had absolutely zero experience with coming into the competition.
What's next for MinorFinder
We will keep pursuing MinorFinder and applying it to more majors and more minors, till we feel it is a fully releaseable project capable of benefiting our peers.
