Inspiration
Minminmachine started because Mindy wanted a space that feels like a personal playground. She has always loved painting and coding, and she didn’t want to keep them separate. We wanted somewhere to experiment and show how art and technology can come together in fun and unexpected ways.
What it does
This is Mindy's portfolio and personal playground. It shows her digital and traditional art, has a blog where she writes about what she is working on, and includes a community space where people can leave little post-it notes. It’s a mix of gallery, diary, and whimsy.
How we built it
We designed and coded the site using Adobe Creative Suite, React, HTML, and CSS. We treated it like another art project, playing with colors and layout until it felt right. The look and feel come from how Mindy paints: colorful, imperfect, and full of small details.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was bringing everything together without losing personality. We didn’t want it to feel like just another portfolio site or a tech demo. Finding a style that felt natural and was feasible took a lot of trial, error, and no sleep.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made this mostly for fun, and we are glad it actually turned into something. Most computer science projects focus on solving problems or helping other people, but this one helps Mindy. It’s simple, creative, and personal. There are still things she want to fix and change, but she likes that it’s something I can keep growing over time.
What we learned
We learned that portfolio sites don’t have to be boring. They can actually be fun and interactive if you let them. We also learned a lot about time management and what’s doable in a day. We love experimenting with layouts and visuals, but there are always limitations when you work on projects super fast. We can’t just drop an interactive Game Boy in the middle of the site. We have to make it work with code! Everything took time, and we definitely spent hours figuring out how far we could push the design before it became too much for users.
What's next for Minminmachine
We want to keep adding new projects, especially interactive art and digital experiments. Eventually, we’d like to include a shop to sell prints! For now, we are just excited to keep growing and sharing what Mindy makes.
