Inspiration
Our inspiration was the fact that how much experience and cost is required to make websites and e-commerce platforms today, and it has sort of becoming a necessity to have an online presence to reach potential customers. Keeping this in mind, we wanted to target the growing community of entrepreneurs, artists, creators, and individuals who are working hard everyday by taking them online! The goal of Ministore is to give them a platform which enables them to connect with their users and give them further financial empowerment.
What it does
This is a combination of a no-code and e-commerce platform, our users can drop in our app(currently web-app) to create a quick no code site in under 5 minutes, by adding store name and product details, then the user can connect their Stripe account to accept payments, and voila their own webstore is ready! Now they can share it with users across the globe and earn money, we also plan to integrate services like Facebook ads, and delivery services to truly enable our hustlers to focus on what they truly love doing and we take care of every other logistics.
How we built it
We first started with brainstorming about the idea, and trying to do something that actually creates impact, even though our project was quite complex for a few day stints, we picked it up, first, we started by designing the UI/UX in Figma, and did multiple iterations. Then we picked up the tech part which we built on top of React, Node, Express, and Mongo DB, the rendered website was built on HTML and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
There were multiple challenges that we ran into, the first being we didn't sleep(The hardest struggle) but leaving jokes aside the project was very complex in itself, it had multiple components, it was like building a no-code platform and an e-commerce store all within 2 days, we tried using multiple APIs for integrating our payment method, probably the hardest to sort out, but eventually were able to get Stripe up and running. Along with this we also faced challenges to render websites and assign a co-domain through shared hosting -> still figuring out as I'm writing, but overall it was the hardest project that we picked and completed in any hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We didn't compromise on the design, as in the end, it's a consumer-centric product, even for a hackathon we thought that the most important bit irrespective of the backend is the product design and experience. Along with this again being able to complete this project within this time frame in itself feels like a huge accomplishment irrespective of whether we win or not.
What we learned
All of us in the team were mostly experienced with front, so picking up the backend bit was very new for us and required a learning curve as well, apart from that we had a lot of fun doing this project, our teamwork was fantastic, and moreover, we learned how to eliminate and create lean fast products.
What's next for Ministore - Build your store in under 5 mins!
We also plan to integrate services like Facebook ads, and delivery services to truly enable our hustlers to focus on what they truly love doing and we take care of every other logistics. The goal of this project goes beyond just providing a no-code platform, it is a way through which we can globally empower individuals to bring their work to the world, a step forward to making them more financially powerful, and also impacting the world that still doesn't have proper internet infrastructure yet alone knowledge of creating heavy sites. We plan to impact the world one ministore at a time.
