Inspiration
Arcade racing from the 80s, reimagined for the new era of Virtual Reality. We wanted the thrill of the race without the setup: a miniature world that appears wherever you are, driven with nothing but a finger.
What it does
MiniSprint is tabletop racing for Meta VR glasses. Place a miniature race world anywhere in your real world through full-color passthrough and drive it with one finger on a virtual wheel. Touch to steer, spin and release to drift, pinch to accelerate and brake. Grab speed boosters and pickups, race short sessions, championships, and multiplayer. No controllers, no separate immersive mode.
How we built it
We built this PoC to validate one thing: that one-finger driving feels great in passthrough. We prototyped the virtual wheel interaction first, then the miniature track rendering, keeping everything seated and within arm's reach.
Challenges we ran into
Making a finger-driven wheel feel precise at miniature scale. Keeping the track readable in full color passthrough without cluttering the real world. Designing everything for short, seated sessions.
What we learned
Hands-first racing works: no controllers needed, ever. The miniature format is perfect for the glasses: it fits your world instead of replacing it.
What's next
Turn the PoC into the full game: championship, career mode, and multiplayer, then submit to Meta. A new era of casual gaming at your fingertips.
