Inspiration

There are two types of people out there, the people who can't stop working and the people who can't start! So we decided to create a minimalistic productivity web application to help both!

What it does

Our web app has two different timers. The first timer is set to create an interval for the length of time you wish to be working. When this timer runs out it will send you an alert telling you that it is time to take a break. The second timer is for you to set a limit to how long you wish your break to be. This timing method is based off of the Pomodoro Method. During the break, there are three activity options to choose between that you can do during to keep your mind active: pong, breathe, and paint.

How we built it

We built our web app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including the p5.js library). We coded collaboratively in realtime with Replit.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was that none of us knew the languages we worked in - Javascript, HTML, and CSS - proficiently. We decided that this project was a great opportunity for us to work with and learn them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our team is really proud of how much we were able to get done in such a short amount of time. We are also really proud of all that we learned about JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

What we learned

We learned a lot about different programming languages. We also improved our debugging and teamwork skills.

What's next for Give Me A Break

Productivity can be difficult for a lot of people and the Pomodoro Method is a very efficient way to get into and out of studying. In the future we would love to not only make our web application more accessible to everyone but also create more games for the break brain break to keep the mind active. We would also like to make it easier to access by making it a chrome extension.
