MiniMusicPlayer

Inspiration

MiniMusicPlayer was inspired by old videos on Youtube of people creating song covers of popular music in the game Mario Paint. My goal is to bring that same creativity into the modern age with Reddit.

What it does

This app allows you to create music using 9 custom instruments in fashion similar to MIDI sequencers.

How we built it

The application was built using Reddit's Devvit platform and Vanilla Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest issue that we ran into was with the original iteration of the app. The notes would not render properly when the project was built with React, so I had to make the decision to start over and rebuild it from scratch.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I think the willingness to continue with the Hackathon after being stuck for several days is something I am really proud of.

What we learned

Analyzing new platforms and their codebases in a limited amount of time.

What's next for MiniMusicPlayer

-While it is currently possible to access the source code to update the instruments, I would like to create a more streamlined method for people who would like to update the instruments and may not want to delve into the code to do so. -Adding more themes and instruments for people to play with
