Inspiration
I was inspired not only by Kawaii Creators Merge Kitties game but the 2 week development time frame they built it in. I wanted to see how far I could get and get a better understanding of where I can improve to become a better developer.
What it does
The game uses a drag drop merge mechanic to upgrade tenants of an apartment complex to increase your revenue.
How we built it
Minimon Move In was build with the Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor, Audacity, and Suno.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding CustomUI become paramount to this challenge as well as understanding how leveling and experience is calculated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It's working! and the audio and character images are centralized in such a way that it's easy to create multliple versions of the game with new styles. I feel way more comfortable managing complex UI, UI Bindings, and Animated Bindings. I'm very happy that players have already started engaging with the game.
What we learned
What's next for Minimon Move In
I'd add more diverse purchase options to make the game feel more diverse visually as well as mechanically. For example, apartments can be destroyed and need repair or minimon are more likely to start a fire if left unattended. Mostly, I'd like to take what I've learned and build more complex and engaging worlds.
