MiniMinds

Inspiration

With the increasing number of autism diagnoses in newborns, we wanted to make a difference. Early detection is crucial, and we saw an opportunity to use AI to help parents and caregivers identify signs of autism more efficiently.

What It Does

MiniMinds utilizes cutting-edge AI models to analyze a child's picture and assess the potential of autism. Our goal is to provide an accessible and supportive tool for early detection.

How We Built It

We started from scratch, researching various AI technologies, including Groq, to determine the best approach. After setting up a GitHub repository, our team divided tasks efficiently—some focused on frontend development, ensuring a seamless user experience, while others tackled the backend, building the AI model and integrating it into the platform.

Challenges We Faced

One of our biggest hurdles was training the AI model. Due to hardware limitations, our GPU struggled with processing, significantly slowing down the training phase. We had to optimize our approach and explore alternative solutions to keep the project on track.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

  1. Developing an intuitive and visually appealing UI/UX
  2. Successfully integrating AI for autism detection
  3. Overcoming technical challenges through teamwork and persistence
  4. Building a project that has the potential to make a real impact

What We Learned

This journey reinforced the importance of teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving. We also gained hands-on experience with AI model training, front-end and back-end development, and system performance.

What’s Next for MiniMinds

We’re just getting started! Our next steps include:

  • Enhancing our AI model’s accuracy with better training data
  • Expanding our platform with additional screening tools
  • Partnering with experts to refine and validate our approach
  • Making MiniMinds more accessible to families worldwide
  • Integrating analysis through videos as well

With innovation and dedication, we aim to push the boundaries of AI in early autism detection. Stay tuned for what’s next!
