Inspiration
The video game Civilization had a quote from Antoine de Saint Exupéry - "It seems that perfection is attained, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away." I wanted to make a minimalistic static blog engine.
What it does
It takes a directory of txt files and loads them into a database. Next it generates html from the database. Alternatives are Jekyll or Hugo.
How we built it
It is built using pug, SQL, JavaScript, node js, html, and CSS.
Deps:
"better-sqlite3": "^11.3.0",
"fs-extra": "^11.2.0",
"pug": "^3.0.3"
Challenges we ran into
Keeping to the minimalist theme I set for myself meant keeping feature creep from diluting the vision.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I completed a blog engine, and made a video.
What we learned
Less is more. (doesn't use less or sass just css though :) "Keeping the main thing the main thing" is a business trope for a reason.
What's next for minimalist static blog site
Perhaps some admin scripts.
