Inspiration
We all know the fatigue of traditional PC gaming. Sore fingers from endless button mashing, stiff wrists, and screen monotony. I wanted to stir things up with an interactive arcade game that gets people on their feet. When I set out to build Egg Splatter, I wanted to make playing a game active, fun, and 100% hands-free. So I swapped out traditional controllers for natural body movements.
What it does
Egg Splatter is an endless vertical climbing game where you guide a nimble egg up an endless series of platforms. Instead of tapping a keyboard, mouse, or controller while playing, you control the character entirely through your webcam: Tilt/roll your head left and right to guide the egg across the screen. Lift your head to jump onto higher platforms. Enjoy unpredictable gameplay with dynamic game modifiers such as Super Jumps, Inverted Controls, Rocket Boosts, and visual Fog Mode. Drop your egg off the bottom of the screen, and it's game over in a satisfying splatter!
How we built it

Challenges we ran into
The camera was too sensitive sometimes, making it very hard to control, and platforms would be impossible to reach, making the egg stuck and ending the game. Libraries wouldn't properly import, so I had to come up with a new way to track face movement. I also had to rewrite my code many times, and it was hard but fun to do.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am happy with my zero keyboard usage during gameplay because it is something new that is cool and fun to use. The Game got better over time with power-ups, and the head control made it fun.
What we learned
I learned about how game physics work and how important it is to make a game balanced for the player and also challenging so the player still feels difficulty playing the game but gets better at it over time.
What's next for Egg Splatter
I hope to make another Egg Splatter with an ending having the player parkour over many hard jumps to accomplish the goal.
