Inspiration
Whenever users up for an account for anything, they check "agree to Terms and conditions" and Privacy Policy without actually reading them out. While some users have the ability to do this, these pages are very long to read, and are spoken in a very formally legal language. As a result, most people don't both reading them, and just agree to the ToS without giving too much thought.
What it does
It's a google chrome extension that automatically summarizes ToS and Privacy Policy pages, and gives bullet points showing things to look out for. It can also automatically translate itself with a slide down menu.
How we built it
It's a chrome extension. AI was used to help build it, and come to life
Challenges we ran into
The Google AI API that it runs on would hit its rate limit repeatedly, and being able to obtain the "free" credits from the developer program was a hassle. About 35 dollars had to be dropped in order for it to work properly running on Google AI API.
Also, using Github was very confusing for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned how to use HTML , create a chrome extension, and how to use an API within a program for the first time.
What we learned
How easy a chrome extension is to make, how API keys worked, how to integrate one into an app.
What's next for MiniaTerm
Perhaps a subscription model, more configurability, make it actually a downloadable chrome extension by cleaning out code.
