Inspiration
As indie hackers and solopreneurs, we often get stuck in idea paralysis—either unsure of what to build or chasing ideas with low market potential. We wanted to create a tool that helps creators go from "niche" to "validated SaaS concept" instantly.
What it does
Mini SaaS Idea Generator takes a user-input niche (e.g., “wedding planners” or “personal trainers”) and returns:
- A SaaS product name
- Problem it solves
- Feature list (5–7 core features)
- Suggested pricing model
- MVP tech stack
- Optional growth hack or go-to-market angle
It’s like having a micro-startup strategist in your pocket.
How we built it
We used a large language model prompt architecture optimized for ideation, with focus on clarity, repeatability, and structure. The core logic runs as a Bolt.new app using a single prompt that dynamically responds to user input and consistently returns SaaS ideas in a standardized format.
Challenges we ran into
- Balancing creativity with feasibility: Ensuring the tool generates ideas that are both imaginative and executable.
- Niche diversity: Making the generator work equally well for broad and obscure niches.
- Keeping outputs concise, yet actionable enough to inspire builders to take the next step.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Generated over 100+ high-quality SaaS concepts during testing.
- Several test users reported taking the outputs and starting MVP development immediately.
- Nailed a format that is both beginner-friendly and startup-savvy.
What we learned
- There's real hunger for structured, validated ideation tools among indie hackers.
- The right prompt engineering can produce surprisingly useful business ideas.
- Simplicity wins—users value clarity and quick answers over long explanations.
What's next for Mini SaaS Idea Generator
- Add ability to generate GTM plans and landing page copy.
- Offer “Validate this idea” using market data and keyword research.
- Build a “Save & Share” dashboard to track favorite ideas.
- Enable API access for integration with Notion, Airtable, etc.
