Inspiration

Minesweeper is one of those games everyone has played at least once, but most mobile versions are either clumsy to control or buried under ads. We wanted the classic logic puzzle rebuilt for touch: fair, fast, and good-looking, with a monetization model that respects the player.

What it does

Minesweeper by Taplinko is the classic game rebuilt for mobile:

Tap to reveal, long-press to flag, with a safe first tap so every game starts fairly.
Multiple difficulty levels, from beginner to expert.
Daily boards, streak rewards and helpful hints.
Stylish themes to change the look of the board.
New in 1.1.4 — Expedition mode: explore the Sun Ruins through 10 hand-made levels solvable by logic alone (no guessing), open a safe path from the entrance to the exit, grab the treasure, avoid the traps, and find hidden gems for bonus coins. 3 free hints per level.

The game is free with ads. A Premium in-app purchase removes ads, and the entitlement is managed with the RevenueCat SDK.

How we built it

Built with Flutter for iOS and Android. RevenueCat handles the Premium purchase flow, receipt validation and entitlement state across platforms, so unlocking Premium works the same on both stores without custom server code. Ads are served through AdMob mediation for non-premium users.

Challenges we ran into

Making touch controls feel precise on small boards (reveal vs. flag) without accidental taps.
Guaranteeing that Expedition levels are always solvable by pure logic, with no guessing required.
Keeping the free experience enjoyable while making Premium a clear, fair upgrade.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Shipped to the App Store and Google Play, and kept iterating with regular updates (Expedition mode arrived in 1.1.4).
A no-guess puzzle mode on top of the classic random boards.
A clean Premium flow powered by RevenueCat.

What we learned

Integrating RevenueCat let us focus on gameplay instead of store-specific billing edge cases, and gave us a single place to see conversion and revenue for both platforms.
