Inspiration
As students, we are aware of deficiencies that affect our education system, particularly those related to the accessibility of resources. There are countless existing services that provide answers to assignments in return for membership fees; the cost of these services has become a socioeconomic barrier and prioritizes getting the answer right over learning how to get the answer yourself.
What it does
Our program Minerva intends to use the capabilities of existing AI to provide all students with access to the personalized resources they need to exceed.
How we built it
We used Google Vision for Optical character recognition (OCR) and Writesonic to integrate AI into Minerva.
Challenges we ran into
- OCR issue
- APIs issue
- GUI issue
- IDE issue
- Everything.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We solved every technical challenge we encountered.
What we learned
Tkinter is awful. Everything is hard.
What's next for Minerva - Using AI to Enhance Your Education
Like us, Minerva has a lot more to learn. We hope to expand her capabilities and reduce her latency. Since we had under 18 hours for the entire project, we decided to use Python. We would shift to C++ or Java if provided the time.
Built With
- google-vision
- python
- tkinter
- writesonic
