Inspiration

The excruciating process of attempting to build a functioning light switch within Minecraft inspired us to bring that fantastic suffering to real-world electronics. We hope this project can be integrated into the use of Minecraft in teaching children logic and circuits by providing tangible results from their work.

What it does

Our Minecraft mod provides a set of coloured blocks that receive signals from the game's logic system (redstone). It transmits those values to a Google Cloud database which can be accessed from our accompanying Python library running on a Raspberry Pi.

How we built it

The Minecraft mod was build in Java using Forge. Our Android companion app was build with Flutter.

Challenges we ran into

The only Raspberry Pi we had to test on was a model 1 that needed a lot of updates before it would run Python which took far longer than we anticipated.
