The number of mine inspections have been increasing over the past few years (up to almost 50,000 inspections in 2013) and because of this, the number of accidents have been declining.

With limited resources, continuing to increase the number of inspections is not sustainable. Team Poutine have built a tool for mine inspection managers to prioritize their next inspection efforts based on the probability of a mine accident.

MR. E assigns a category of risk to each mine and explains what factors of the last inspection suggest the mine is prone to accident.
