Inspiration
Inspiration MINDS currently uses multiple tools like WhatsApp, Google Forms, and spreadsheets just to run one event. We saw how messy and time-consuming this was, and wanted to make something simpler that actually fits how MINDS works day to day.
What it does
MINDyoureventS puts event creation, registration, and attendance tracking into one place. Organisers can manage events easily without jumping between platforms or doing manual tracking.
How we built it
We built it as a web app with a simple Firebase backend and an easy-to-use user interface. Our main focus was keeping everything clear and intuitive for non-technical users, but also bright and lively for participants to use. We used logical routing through React, aesthetic CSS with Tailwind and Gemini API for creativity.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled balancing functionality with aesthetics and overall accessibility, which often ran us into dilemmas when choosing which functions to retain. In the end, we prioritised what we deemed necessary for streamlined workflow and enough creativity to keep participants engaged and retain their ease of access too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We turned a real operational problem into a working product. We were able to tackle the joyful element and also the functional elements of the product well.
What we learned
We learned that good software is more about understanding people than adding features. Building for accessibility and real workflows mattered more than technical complexity.
What's next for MINDyoureventS
We would add mobile support, better UI aesthetics, and more accessibility features so the platform can grow with MINDS.
