Inspiration

We wanted to build a supportive ecosystem for mental health in WI but realised that without understanding the problem, there is no solution. Assuming that our assumptions would be right we quickly began looking for data to support us but as we learned more confusing facts about what WI does well when it comes to mental health and where it might have a lot of problems.

How we built it

Using HTML CSS and Folium (in python) for our interactive mapping because interactive data is always consumed better. We used geocoding and matplot lib to pull and graph inferences from the datasets we collected. A significant portion of time was also spent on cleaning real world messy datasets.

What's next for MindWI: Unveiling Mental Health Patterns in Wisconsin

Data-Driven advocacy is empowering. Harnessing the power of statistics enabled us to advocate for evidence-based policies and interventions. Armed with data, we can make a compelling case for targeted initiatives, resource allocation, and systemic changes that address the identified mental health challenges.

Geographic variations matter. Milwaukee, as a diverse and dynamic city, exhibits unique geographic patterns in mental health issues. Our analysis revealed concentrations and variations that underscore the importance of localized interventions tailored to specific communities.
