Inspiration

I was inspired by the urgent need to make mental health support more accessible, immediate, and stigma-free. Millions of people struggle in silence because traditional systems are slow, expensive, and inaccessible. I wanted to build something smarter — a solution that empowers people to take care of their mental health anytime, anywhere.

What it does

MindWell is an all-in-one mental health platform available on both web and mobile. It offers a multimodal AI assistant for emotional support, a token-based reward system that gamifies self-care, and a professional ecosystem for real-time therapy and long-term follow-up. It’s fully accessible, works in dark mode, and even includes audio descriptions for visually impaired users.

How we built it

I built MindWell using the Bolt development environment, connected directly to my GitHub. I integrated the OpenAI API for text-based conversations, and ElevenLabs for text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and audio description. Supabase powers the secure and scalable database, while Stripe handles all payments in the background. Finally, I deployed the platform using Render and used WebIntoApp to convert it into an Android APK.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating multiple APIs — especially combining voice, text, and image modalities — was technically complex. Making the platform truly accessible (with audio description and UI clarity) took several iterations. Designing a token economy that felt meaningful without becoming a distraction also required a lot of user testing and balancing. Another thing is that when i linked my bolt app to github and make it public, API keys that i've used also became public (the open Ai one too!) and Open Ai have a system that disabled your api key when it becomes public, that's why the chatbot in the app may not be functionnal currently !

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully functional MVP that combines AI, real-time therapy access, and gamified mental health — all in one platform. We made accessibility a core feature from day one. We also successfully bridged the gap between users and professionals, offering real value to both sides of the mental healthcare ecosystem.

What we learned

We learned that designing for mental health means balancing technology and empathy at every level. We also realized how powerful AI can be when it's used to support — not replace — human connection. Most importantly, we learned that accessibility isn't an "extra" — it's essential.

What's next for MindWell

Next, we’re building native mobile apps for iOS and Android. We’re also expanding internationally, developing predictive AI for personalized mental health insights, and launching virtual group therapy rooms. Long-term, we aim to integrate with hospital systems, partner with insurance companies, and conduct clinical research to validate our impact.
