💡 Inspiration

Traditional learning often focuses on memorizing answers rather than understanding concepts. Students may perform well in quizzes but still have misconceptions and gaps in their knowledge. We built MindWeave to make learning more personalized, interactive, and focused on genuine understanding.

🚀 What It Does

MindWeave is an AI-powered personalized learning platform that transforms topics or uploaded study notes into an interactive learning journey.

Key features include:

  • AI-powered concept generation
  • Interactive concept graphs
  • Diagnostic quizzes
  • AI-based answer evaluation
  • Misconception detection
  • Personalized revision
  • Retesting to measure improvement
  • Progress tracking and concept mastery analysis

🛠️ How We Built It

  • Frontend: Next.js, React, JavaScript, and vanilla CSS
  • Backend: Python and FastAPI
  • AI: Google Gemini
  • Database: SQLAlchemy with database support
  • Validation: Zod
  • Testing: Pytest and frontend validation tests

The frontend communicates with the FastAPI backend through API endpoints. Gemini powers concept generation, question evaluation, and personalized learning feedback.

🧠 Challenges We Faced

One of our main challenges was integrating frontend submissions with backend validation and AI-based evaluation. We also worked on handling inconsistent AI-generated responses, ensuring unique retest questions, and connecting the complete learning journey from concept generation to progress tracking.

Testing and debugging these workflows helped us improve the application's reliability.

📚 What We Learned

Building MindWeave helped us gain practical experience in full-stack development, AI integration, API design, data validation, database management, and testing an end-to-end application.

We also learned how AI can be used not just to generate content, but to identify knowledge gaps and support personalized learning.

🌟 What's Next

We plan to improve learning analytics, expand document support, enhance AI-generated feedback, and make personalized learning accessible to more students.
