I am a clinical psychologist who has seen the benefits of people becoming more aware of what's important to them and developing a clear and persistent focus on living the life they want. I thought, "wouldn't it be great if people could achieve this state of mind without having to visit a psychologist or counselor or some other mental health professional". I developed the idea of an app that would send questions to a person's phone at random times throughout the day to "catch" them while they were going about their daily business and would prompt them to think about, and stay focused on, the important things in life such as being the person they want to be. By achieving a clear and focused state of mind people will be able to experience robust and resilient happiness and will negotiate with ease the stresses of daily living. I located a team of app developers to develop the app and I launched the first version on the iTunes store on October 20th so that people could begin to use it and we could iron out any bugs that existed. The app is called MindSurf with the idea being that, with a little regular practice at surfing their mind, people will be able to achieve lasting contentment and satisfaction and will know true happiness.
