Inspiration
We were inspired by MedHacks to improve access to a particular healthcare issue, and identified the field of mental health as one that needs many improvements. Different therapists can specialize in a variety of areas, and this can be overwhelming to navigate. With this in mind, we wanted to connect those who could benefit from help to those who are most qualified to help them.
What it does
Our app MindSpec has users create a profile that they can use to track their mood over time. This, combined with an extensive questionnaire that can be taken at any time, compiles the users symptoms and comes up with an estimated diagnosis. After the questionnaire, the user has the option to input a zip code or share their location. They will then be guided to a map highlighting nearby therapists who specialize in the appropriate areas. We also take into account the different types of therapy practiced and will recommend a type that best fits the user's needs.
How I built it
We used proto.io to get a traversable draft for our app.
Challenges I ran into
We tried other app drafting software before deciding proto.io had the best environment to build our vision in.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
A good looking draft of an app whose purpose I can advocate for.
What I learned
How to use proto.io.
What's next for MindSpec
