Inspiration

Mental health issues are often invisible, yet deeply impactful. We wanted to create an experience that not only raises awareness but also encourages personal reflection and growth. With so many people silently struggling, Mindscape is our way of saying: “We see you.”

What it does

Mindscape is a scroll-based, immersive mental health simulator that lets users experience what it’s like to live with conditions like anxiety or depression. Alongside the story-driven simulation, users can now:

Log daily emotional and physical symptoms in a Symptom Journal

Build consistency with a Healthy Habits Tracker focused on sleep, hydration, movement, and mindfulness

These tools encourage users not just to understand others, but to care for themselves.

How we built it

We used Lovable (the AI coder)

Challenges we ran into

Designing a visual and auditory experience that felt authentic without being overwhelming

Keeping the journal and habit tracker privacy-safe and fully static

Making the transition between the empathy simulator and the self-care tools feel natural and cohesive

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a powerful awareness experience that people can actually feel

Added practical tools (journal + tracker) that promote real-world well-being

Achieved everything without a database, backend, or user accounts

Used an AI coding partner (Lovable) to streamline development while staying creative

What we learned

Empathy and usability can coexist with lightweight code

LocalStorage can power surprisingly deep interactions when used right

Mental health tools don’t need to be complex—they just need to feel safe and intentional

What's next for Mindscape

Add more lived-experience simulations (e.g., OCD, chronic pain)

Expand the tracker with mood-activity correlations and gentle insights

Collaborate with therapists or educators for field use

Offer export options so users can share their journal with a healthcare provider
