Inspiration
During COVID-19, kids like us were really sad. We were lonely and could not build real connections to other people our age. We needed someone to talk to, but nobody was there. Even today, most AI for mental health models cost an absurd monetary value. So, we decided to create a free AI for mental health model to help all children, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic.
What it does
This project is to develop an empathetic, conversational AI that can serve as a supportive companion for individuals experiencing stress. It will offer guided breathing exercises, inspirational questions, give motivational conversations, and provide access to coping strategies based on cognitive-behavioral principles.
How we built it
We use JavaScript, Python, HTML, and OpenAI to create this model of mental counselor AI.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges, such as incompatibility, bugs, and crashes in this drafted model. The bugs aren't easy to fix because it changes the entire code's structures, and the incompatibility of the code forces us to rewrite and draft new codes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of getting our model to work, especially integrating multiple languages to sync together.
What we learned
We learned a lot about different APIs, languages and specific prompt engineering of the model.
What's next for MindQuest
What's next for MindQuest is to create new interactive activities, options, and questions for the client to use, such as asking specific ways to alleviate stress, such as taking deep breaths and yoga moves.
