Inspiration
We noticed how often people struggle to decide what to eat when they’re stressed, anxious, sad, or simply overwhelmed. TikTok trends like “what I eat in a day” and “depression meals” reflect a growing connection between food and emotion. We wanted to create something that bridges wellness, mood, and smart recommendations — all with a single natural language prompt.
What it does
MindMeal takes one simple prompt — describing how you feel and how much time you have — and instantly generates a healthy, mood-matching meal suggestion. It recommends what to cook or order, tailored to your emotional state and time constraints. It may also suggest music to improve your mood and a motivational message to make the experience comforting and personal.
How we built it
We used a prompt-first development approach with Bolt. We crafted a detailed prompt that handles:
- Emotion and time parsing
- Meal type decision (cook or order)
- Mood-based food logic
- Optional music suggestion
- Clean UI generation with pastel visuals and icons
The app requires no login, works instantly, and is optimized for both desktop and mobile.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing the mood-to-meal logic to feel natural and not stereotypical
- Ensuring the UI was both minimal and expressive using just prompt-based generation
- Keeping the response under 5 seconds while generating rich content
- Making it truly useful with just one input line
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Created a meaningful app that combines emotional wellness and nutrition
- Achieved a smooth, clean user interface with zero-code tools
- Turned an abstract idea into a usable, sharable, emotionally relevant experience
- Maintained our one-prompt rule while delivering layered functionality
What we learned
- Prompt engineering is powerful — careful wording can create rich, multi-layered logic
- Emotion-based apps require empathy, nuance, and smart defaults
- Simplicity can be deeply useful when designed with clarity
What's next for MindMeal: AI Meal & Mood Optimizer
We plan to:
- Add geolocation to suggest local healthy delivery options
- Introduce dietary filters (gluten-free, keto, etc.)
- Add a voice input for even more natural interaction
- Partner with food APIs to show real-time availability
- Let users save or favorite meals that resonate with them
MindMeal is more than a tool — it’s a gentle daily companion that listens, understands, and feeds both your body and your mind.
