Inspiration

Many students silently struggle with stress, burnout, and self-doubt. We wanted to create a safe, uplifting, and interactive space where students can express their feelings, track their well-being, and receive gentle support every day.

What it does

MindMate is a student-first mental well-being app with features like: Vision Board – Add images and affirmations to visualize goals. Gratitude & Prayer Page – Calming space with animations for reflection. Daily Affirmations – Uplifting quotes at the click of a button. Manifestation Journal – Save personal affirmations and goals. Buddy System – Peer accountability check-ins. Safe Venting Box – Private, secure space for frustrations. Wellness Tracker – Track sleep, hydration, exercise, and screen time. Emergency Helplines – Quick access to counselors and hotlines. AI Coping Tips – Smart suggestions based on mood logs. Gamified Rewards – Earn badges for consistency (like journaling streaks).

How we built it

Next.js (App Router) → Core frontend & routing.

TailwindCSS → Clean, responsive, calming UI.

Framer Motion → Smooth animations for a soothing experience.

TypeScript → Type safety + better developer workflow.

Local storage & API routes → Handle journals, affirmations, trackers securely.

Challenges we ran into

Designing privacy-first features like the venting box.

Managing complex state across multiple tools (journals, trackers, AI tips).

Balancing feature richness with simplicity so users don’t feel overwhelmed.
