Inspiration

As avid Mindmappers, we use Mindmaps to layout our thoughts whenever we start something new. A few months back, we also built our own mindmapping software. Some of our users requested integration of Mindmaps with Monday.com which they use for managing their Projects. We also saw a few users requesting this in the monday community. We also took inspiration from how Mindmeister and Meistertask work together for Ideation and Project Management.

What it does

With this app, you can

• Make Mindmaps within Monday.com.
• Turn the nodes of Mindmap into Items on the Main table view.
• Post updates on an item from the Mindmap

How I built it

We built it with Angular

Challenges I ran into

One of the major challenges was to decouple the storage to use monday.com store instead of our own database. For this we introduced a new persistence layer which used the monday key value pair storage instead of our earlier apis.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of building this app in a short time and also making a kickass video :)

What I learned

Focus. We initially thought of a lot more features, but trimmed it down to what would really matter to users based on our research.

What's next for Mindmapping in Monday.com

• Create a two-way sync between text on the mindmap and Main Table
• Show status of a task and additional details on the Mindmap
