Inspiration

In recent years mental health awareness has taken the media by storm. More celebrities athletes and other influencers have been making an effort to talk about mental health than ever before. This has helped reduce the stigma around mental health, created supportive workplaces, and encouraged individuals to seek services.

As such, a prominent shortcoming in diagnosing and treating individuals with mental illnesses is the scarcity of mental health professionals that can cater to the individual requirements for each patient. Provider shortages persist and are expected to worsen. With a diverse variety of different categories, and subcategories within mental health finding a viable treatment within an accessible radius and time slot can be difficult. In addition to this, not all providers accept insurance, and it is difficult to know which professionals will be able to cater to your financial, mental, and physical needs.

What it does

MINDmap is a one-stop application that bridges the accessibility gap between the resources of mental health professionals and their patients. This app provides: -Therapy Location Map -Business Contact Information -Cost and Insurance compatibility -Appointment Availability -General Treatment Details and Specialties -Reviews by Verified Users -Detailed COVID procedures -Contact with Government Officials -Booking through App

Challenges we ran into

With an online event, there are bound to be technical difficulties. Unfortunately, our team was no exception to this. With one member losing power twice throughout the event and one with unreliable wifi, we were constantly on our toes. Now that is has come time to submit we can really laugh about that challenge. We had no control over it, but we still managed to submit our best work, and on time too

Accomplishments that we're proud of

None of us were experienced in programming or software design, however, the idea we propose is an app. We managed to use figma to develop a UX/UI design and it turned out way better than expected.

What we learned

What's next for MINDmap

Phase 4: 5 Years After Initial Launch once there is sufficient traction → prices will become $22 per month (billed as one payment of $264

GROWTH Phase 5: 6 Years After Initial Launch Expanding reach past Ontario and up to federal govt across Canada The provider works with BIPOC and neurodivergent people, as racism and ableism are rampant in the mental health industry and make mental healthcare inaccessible for BIPOC and neurodiverse people.

Phase 6: 10 Years After Initial Launch Expand focus from private to public health clinics as well by proposing the government to implement this app as a part of the healthcare system
